Strengthen Capability of National Farmers’ Leadership Centre (NFLC) II PROJECT
The National Farmers’ Leadership Centre (NFLC) was established by the Korean government between 2011 and 2015, as part of a USD 4.4 million aid project through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in response to a request from Uganda’s President, H.E. Yoweri Museveni. The center was situated on a 50-acre site located in Kampiringisa, Mpigi district, with the primary purpose of serving as a training institution for human resource development in Uganda’s agricultural sector. NFLC was officially transferred to the Uganda government, represented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries (MAAIF), in 2017.
“Institutional Capacity Support to the National Farmers’ Leadership Centre” represents the second phase of support for NFLC, with the aim of strengthening the institution’s function. The project’s goal is to develop high-quality agricultural human resources through sustainable NFLC operations by enhancing the physical and human infrastructure of the training institute, and further positioning NFLC as a leading training center for East Africa. NFLC II project is executed under KOICA in alongside a consortium of organizations, including Good Neighbors International (GNI), the Korea Environment Agricultural Development Institute (KEADI), and the Seamaul Globalization Foundation (SGF), in partnership with MAAIF. NFLC II project envisages a comprehensive transformation, including the expansion of accommodation and training facilities, the renovation of demonstration farms, community impact, and the strengthening of administrative and technical competencies through cutting-edge training and capacity-building programs. Together, we can empower agricultural leaders, foster sustainable practices, and contribute to socio-economic transformation in East Africa.
